The Leatherman was a mysterious man who walked through New England in the late 1800s. He stopped in 40 different towns and spent his nights in caves and hollows, but he talked to no one along the way. A few schools would give students time off on Leatherman Day if they gave him the food they collected.
The Old Leatherman was a mysterious traveler who walked the same loop between the CT River & the Hudson (365 miles!) month after month for 5 yrs in the late 1800s. He wore the heavy leather outfit pictured. His true identity has never been discovered. #ThatsWeirdExhibit pic.twitter.com/afaXrUntOK— The Connecticut Historical Society (@CTHistorical) January 7, 2018
