While wars are fought from time to time across the world, most of us have not had to live through the horrors of battle and bloodshed. But we can still imagine what it was like for people during periods of warfare through photographs. Here, we’ve put together a compilation of the best war photos that people took through the years. Some of these photographs show bombings as they took place, while others captured the raw emotions of people who lived through troubling times.
The Pearl Harbor
On December 7, 1941, the Japanese military bombed Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The area was the home of the United States Pacific Fleet. It’s believed that the Japanese spent months planning the attack in order to destroy the morale of the American Navy, so the U.S. wouldn’t be able to fight back.
