Beautiful Vacation Spots That You Can No Longer Visit

It’s hard to imagine a world without the Great Wall of China or the Pyramids of Giza. Yet, when our grandparents were in their prime, they visited natural and architectural marvels that stood strong. Indeed, there were places on Earth that were once considered wonders but now no longer exist.

Because of careless and irresponsible acts by humans, many of the world’s ancient wonders are inaccessible or have disappeared altogether. The lack of access may be for the best, but it makes the world a little less exciting.

Here are some marvelous vacation spots that have been lost to history.

The Statue of Liberty is a world-renowned tourist attraction in New York City, drawing four million visitors yearly. Although access to the monument is restricted, a reservation pass can still get you in. However, you won’t be able to climb any higher into Lady Liberty’s Torch.

The arm and torch were damaged in a sabotage act in 1916, making them unsafe for visitors for over a century. Lady Liberty’s torch was repaired in 1984 but never reopened to the public.
